We have a lot of babies due in the near future and all of you expecting now or planning to get pregnant need to be aware of how the insurance system works. We have a $1000 out of pocket deductible for each family member each year up to $2000 per family. This money can be reimbursed by WCGME only if it results from hospital charges, not physician charges. So, if you want WCGME to pay your out of pocket deductible, you need to make sure the hospital bills before your physician after delivery. If the physician bills first, that bill will be assigned to the deductible and WCGME will not reimburse it. The only way to do this is to ask you doctor to delay turning in the charge tickets. We did not realize this when Natalie was born, and we lost over $1000 because we didn’t play the game right. If you have any questions about this, please give me a call. - Josh Brueggemann
Double-check your # of dependents claimed for taxes. We’ve had a few folks owe a lot of taxes the next year because this was recorded incorrectly.
Consider incorporating instead of filing self-employment tax on your moonlighting income.
